ROTEC has begun the installation of transformer substation 110/6 kV equipment in the Kekura gold field, located in the Bilibinsky District of the Chukotka Autonomous Region.
Power transformer TDN-16000/110/6 HL with a weight of 37 t and dimensions of 5.7*6.4 m, a closed distribution device of 6 kV, as well as materials for the construction of the substation control house have been delivered to the port of Pevek within the framework of the Northern Supply Haul of 2017. In April of this year, the road-train with the future substation parts successfully arrived at the field, covering a distance of about 500 km on the “winter roads” – well-trodden snow roads and ice crossings.
The company’s specialists have also installed transformer TDN-16000/110/6 HL on the previously prepared foundation and are beginning the installation of the control point and the rest of the equipment. The schedule advance allows for performing major works before the onset of cold weather, i. e. under comfortable weather conditions (according to the standards of the Far North). The average temperature of the coldest week of the year in the field area is -51°С. The handover of the plant to the Customer is planned for the end of 2018.
The electric power will be fed to the transformer substation via the 110 kV “Bilibino – Kekura – Peschanka” power transmission line. ROTEC will install a similar substation at the field and put it into operation after construction of the second circuit of the power line. They will reliably provide electric power to the gold-mining facility infrastructure and equipment over the next 30 years.
The Kekura field is developed by Bazovie metalli company, which is part of Highland Gold. The mines, quarry and factory under construction are located about 120 km south from the city of Bilibino.
