31 January 2014 year Ural engineers produced a turbine for Akademicheskiy residential area in Yekaterinburg

Ural Turbine Works met its obligations to IES to manufacture a turbine for Akademicheskaya CHP. New efficient 63 MW equipment is designed for use in PGU-230 CCGT and will be used at Akademicheskaya CHP together with GT13E2 gas turbine unit manufactured by Alstom. Commissioning of the plant is scheduled for Q1 2016. UralEnergoStroy is contracted to construct, install and commission on behalf of the project.

Once completed the plant will cover electrical and heat loads not only in Akademicheskiy residential area but also in the southwestern part of Yekaterinburg. The plant will have 230 MW in electric capacity and 390 Gcal/h in heat capacity. The project features the state-of-the-art, most cost effective and energy-efficient equipment providing efficiency of 50% in combined-cycle against 33% in simple cycle.

The plant's gas consumption is very low, therefore the amount of emissions will be reduced for the advantage of the environment.

We remind that similar turbines manufactured by UTW will be operated at Nizhneturinskaya GRES comprising of two power units. UTW has manufactured 11 turbine equipment packages for IES.
